molybdenum disulfide (mos2), a natural mineral, was first used in the mid-19th century, as a carriage bearing lubricant during the california gold rush era. in the 1960s, the united states established military standards for molybdenum disulfide and considered it classified. subsequently, molybdenum disulfide sputtering film and ion plating film appeared one after another, and molybdenum disulfide was gradually applied in emerging technical fields.
the layered structure of molybdenum disulfide determines its good lubricating properties. due to the steady-state (2h) sandwich structure, the relative slippage of the molybdenum disulfide molecular layer reduces the friction factor and reduces wear. the study found that molybdenum disulfide has excellent lubricating properties, especially suitable for high temperature and high pressure working environment . in addition, molybdenum disulfide is extremely stable in most solvents.
nano molybdenum disulfide is a new attempt in the application of molybdenum disulfide. molybdenum disulfide nanosheets are nanoscale crystals. as the particle size of molybdenum disulfide becomes smaller, the anti-friction performance has been greatly improved. the molybdenum disulfide nanosheets developed by honglu have a narrow particle size distribution and high dispersion good, the thickness of the lamella is stable at 2~10nm, and the quality is stable.
in addition, honglu has developed hydrophilic and lipophilic nano-flake powder products in a targeted manner, which are uniform and stable in liquid dispersion without precipitation. due to its excellent lubricating properties, it can be used for various non-ferrous metal wire drawing lubrication, which can effectively improve the surface quality of metal wires, and can also be used as a nano-lubricating additive for hydraulic oil and engine oil. the literature published in acta tribology and lubrication science has reported that nano-molybdenum disulfide as an additive can significantly improve the lubricating performance of lubricating oil. 
mos2 in monolayer form has recently received special recognition for its fascinating electrical and optical properties. the new product of molybdenum disulfide nanosheet material produced by honglu contains single-layer molybdenum disulfide nanosheets with direct band gap, most of which are nanosheets with a few layers. it can be applied in the fields of photoelectric conversion and new electronic devices.
